John Paul Shackleton Lecturer in the Department of Design, Brunel University. His current research interests are in the application of genetic algorithms to three-dimensional configurative design problems

My own current research includes the use of genetic algorithms in three-dimensional design problems, and although the project is focused on a particular industrial problem, the research has highlighted a number of interesting parallels between natural evolution and the design process. These appear to represent further potentially fruitful avenues of investigation within the wider field of the topic you have proposed, and I would be particularly keen to collaborate on undertaking research in this area.
