Nature Inspired Creative Design - Exhibition and Talks, 13th to 16th September 2006
Designing for the 21st Century
Nature is the 'ultimate' designer - designs in nature are more robust, resource efficient, scalable, and beautiful, than anything human designers can create. 'Nature Inspired Creative Design' is a research network that brings together people from a variety of backgrounds, including Art, Design, Engineering, Computer Science and Biology, to explores how ideas from Nature can be used to improve human Art and Design activities.
Our exhibition features work from a number of network members and invited guests. From Roboshark to immune-system based interactive art, and evolved jewellery, each exhibits interprets the idea of 'Nature Inspired Design' in a different way.
The approaches behind the work are explored in an accompanying series of hour long talks, which are aimed at a general audience.
The Research Network, and this event, is funded by the Arts and Humanities and the Engineering and Physical Sciences research councils (AHRC and EPSRC) under the 'Designing for the 21st Century' Program. The network is run by
