Andrew Gartland-Jones

Andrew Gartland-Jones was a network member, but tragically died on November 2004 from a stroke (http://www.atgj.org/drew/tributes.htm (external link))
Hes was a Lecturer in Computer Music, being responsible for the BA and BSc 'Music Informatics' degree programmes; Head of the Creative Systems Lab, University of Sussex.

Network Interests
My research interests are in the computational modelling of creativity, including exploring what human creativity is, and what sort of role
computers might play in creative processes. At present computers are more useful when we pretty much already know what we want, and much less useful for the fuzzy beginnings of creative activities. More specifically I'm interested in algorithmic composition, generative music, interactive music
and processes of musical cognition (in particular neuropsychological and evolutionary musicology). Most of my research involves the musical
application of evolutionary and adaptive systems.
